2017-18 Board of Directors

  Darren Wilcox, Chair
In 2016-17, Darren served as Vice Chair of Saskatchewan Lotteries. He joined the board in 2015 after being nominated by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association and has served as a member of the Sport Committee, Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan (CSCS) Management Committee, Lottery Division Committee, Audit Committee and Dispute Resolution Committee. In addition to his volunteer activities with Sask Sport Inc., Darren has been responsible for fundraising for the University of Regina men's hockey team and has served on the board of the University of Regina Cougar Hockey Alumni Association. He has also organized several golf tournaments for the university as well as the Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers.

  Tavia Laliberte, Past Chair
Tavia served as Chair of Sask Sport in 2016-17 and Vice Chair of the Sport Division in 2015-16. She was nominated to the board in 2014 by the Rivers West District for Sport, Culture and Recreation and has served as a member of the Aboriginal Sport Leadership Council. Her key contributions to the sport system in Saskatchewan include leadership in the Sask Sport 2017-2021 Strategic Plan and as a tactical contributor on the Aboriginal Sport Leadership Council. She is currently the Vice-President Academic at the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology.

  Leslie Blyth, Vice Chair, Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund
Leslie was the Chair of Sport Funding Committee in 2016-17, also serving on the Officials Advisory Committee, Trust Committee and Community Funding Committee. Leslie was nominated to the board by the Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) in 2016. She has been a strong supporter of soccer for almost 20 years. She has been a SSA board member since 1998, serving as president, vice-president and past president and participating on many committees. During her time as president, she had the opportunity to chair several provincial competitions and serve as the provincial representative for the Canadian Soccer Association National Championships.

  Todd Hollinger, Vice Chair, Lotteries
In 2016-17, Todd served on the Sport Committee, CSCS Management Committee and Lottery Division Committee. Todd was nominated to the board by the University of Regina in 2016. He was a founding member and Director for the Cougar Hockey Alumni Association, a non-profit organization which raises money for scholarships and brings together members of the business community. He was a member of the University of Regina Cougar hockey team from 1992-1997. He has also served as a coach in the Regina Community Basketball League and Hockey Regina. Todd spends his free time as an amateur philosopher, (own) home renovator, landscaper, and watching his children improve their skills in all types of sports from soccer to lacrosse, basketball, golf and gymnastics.

  Misty Alexandre, Vice Chair, Sport
Misty was nominated to the board in 2016 by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association. She has been the chair of the KidSport Saskatoon Breakfast Committee and was also a committee member for the recent U of S Ice Facility Campaign. Misty was a former player with the U of S Women's Huskie Hockey Team, and later acted as an assistant coach and colour commentator for the team's web broadcasts. She is now one of the lead organizers for their Alumni fundraising committee.

  Cathy Gale, Secretary Treasurer
Cathy was the Vice Chair of the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund in 2016-17, served as Chair of both the Trust Committee and Community Funding Committee and also served on the Audit Committee. Cathy was nominated to the board by Softball Saskatchewan in 2015. She has coached softball for 17 years at the Division 1 Level and has served on the Regina Ringette and Softball Regina Board of Directors. She was also a member of the 2013 Grey Cup planning committee.

  Patti Sandison-Cattell
In 2016-17, Patti was the Chair of the Parasport Committee and served on the Sport Committee. She was nominated to the board in 2016 by Skate Canada Saskatchewan. She is the wellness co-ordinator for the Regina Police Service (RPS). She is the co-founder of the RPS Half Marathon, now in its 14th year, which gives the service a way to promote healthy living to the entire Regina community. Patti is an experienced marathon runner, having completed that 42.2 kilometre journey in various Canadian and U.S. cities 23 times and she is also a newly certified sport nutrition coach.

  Dave Boan
In 2016-17, Dave was the Vice Chair of Sport and served on the Audit and District Strategic Committees. He was nominated to the board in 2015 by Water Polo Saskatchewan. He was the physical education representative and vice-chair of the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan (CAS), and has been involved with CAS for over 10 years, helping the association develop the Aboriginal Coaches and Officials Program.

  Al Dyer
Al was nominated to the board in 2017 by Special Olympics Saskatchewan. He has been actively involved with Special Olympics Saskatchewan since 1999, previously serving as chairman of the board and the audit committees. Al has been involved in several major events: 2015 Special Olympic Canada Summer Games (mission staff), 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games (chair of the GOC) and 2013 Special Olympics Canada National Games (mission staff). He has served as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for Special Olympics Canada. Al was part of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics organizing and training Luge officials and serving as a jury member for the Luge Competition. He is the organizer of the North Female Hockey Program, has coached in Prince Albert Minor Hockey for several seasons and has been involved in many other sport organizations in various capacities. He was also the winner of the 2014 Sask Sport Volunteer Award and the prestigious 2015 Harry (Red) Foster Award from Special Olympics Canada.

  Elan Ballantyne
Elan was nominated to the board in 2017 by Golf Saskatchewan. She is a community consultant for the City of Saskatoon and the director of golf and basketball for EB Sports Academy. She has been actively involved with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Women's Basketball Foundation, serving as chairman of the golf tournament committee and as a committee member on the annual breakfast committee.

  Dale Reed
Dale was nominated to the board in 2017 by Gymnastics Saskatchewan. He has been an active board member with Gymnastics Saskatchewan over the past five years, serving on the nomination committee, strategic planning committee and ends policy committee. He has also served two terms on the Gymnastics Canada board of directors. Dale is the referee-in-chief for the Regina Community Basketball Association and is responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, evaluating officials and providing advice to the board of directors.

  Kenric Exner
Kenric was nominated to the board in 2017 by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association. He has spent the past five years coaching in the 345 Fun Hockey League. Over the years, he has organized and instructed various youth private hockey schools and instructed specialized goalie clinics for the Saskatchewan Hockey Association. Kenric played minor hockey in Regina with the Pat Canadians and went on to play hockey in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, Western Hockey League, American Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League, Australian Hockey League and in the Allan Cup. He is currently a Merchandising Manager at Viterra in Regina.
