Saskatchewan Under 15 Girls 2014 National Basketball Champions

For the first time in Basketball Saskatchewan's Inc. history, Team Saskatchewan Under 15 girls netted GOLD at the National Basketball Championship

For the first time in Basketball Saskatchewan's Inc. history, Team Saskatchewan Under 15 girls netted GOLD at the National Basketball Championship in Edmonton, AB on July 30, 2014. The momentous event was celebrated by all Sask. teams, parents, family and fans when Saskatchewan beat Ontario in the final 52-48.

These 12 young women from across the province came together in April 2014 and worked hard in practices, training sessions, and tournaments to prepare for Nationals in Edmonton July 24-30, 2014. Three coaches guided the team: Wayne Morrison, hailing from Wilcox, Sask., Becky Schmidt and Rayna Belyk both from Regina. The team participated in a few tournaments displaying their continued development and building momentum for Nationals. The group hosted a Western tournament with Alberta, and Manitoba, winning both games. The group also attended a tournament in Seattle Washington, where they won the consolation final. This team spent many hours getting to know each other, developing friendships, and creating a competitive team.
