Don MacAulay elected Sask Sport Inc. President

Don MacAulay of Regina was elected President of Sask Sport Inc. at the sport federation's annual general meeting held on June 17, 2006. While on the board, MacAulay has served as the Vice President of Saskatchewan Lotteries, and was a member of the Lottery Division Committee and the Administration Centre Advisory Committee. Elected to the board in 2004 by the Saskatchewan Racquetball Association, MacAulay was a member of the First Site Selection Committee for the 1971 Saskatchewan Games and served as Mission Staff in 1974, 1976, 1978, and 1980. He previously served on the Sask Sport Inc. board from 1972-73.

MacAulay replaces outgoing President George Rathwell, who will remain on the board as Past President. Nominated by the board in 2003 by the Saskatchewan Rowing Association, Rathwell served on numerous committees including the Audit Committee, Administration Centre Advisory Committee, Aboriginal Sport Advisory Committee, the Saskatchewan Games Council Inc. and the Lottery Division Committee.

Gord Lang, Vice President, Saskatchewan Lotteries
Elected to the board in 2005 by Racquetball Saskatchewan, Lang has served on the Lottery Division Committee and the Community Grant Advisory Committee. A former athlete, Lang has previously served on the Sask Sport Inc. board of directors from 1989 to 1991. During that time he served as the Secretary Treasurer and was the Vice President of the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation.

Trevor Forrest, Vice President, Sport
Forrest was elected to the board in 2005 by Special Olympics Saskatchewan. He has served on the Sport Committee, Awards and Recognition Committee, and KidSport™ Saskatchewan. Forrest has served as the President of the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, the Saskatoon Men's Curling Association, chaired the organizing committee to form Curl Saskatoon, chaired Saskatchewan's First Curling Classic, and chaired the Bid Committee for the TSN Skins Games in Saskatoon.

Ed Bankowski, Secretary Treasurer
Bankowski was nominated to the board in 2004 by Football Saskatchewan. He has served on the Sport Committee, Future Best Committee, and Lottery Division Committee. Bankowski has been an active volunteer with the University of Regina Rams Football Club serving as the Team Manager, President, Past President, and numerous other positions. He also served on the Sask Sport Inc. board of directors during the late 1980s, when he was the Secretary Treasurer.

Barbara Deets, Vice President, Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation
Deets was nominated to the board in 2005 by Saskatchewan Squash Inc. She has chaired the Sport Funding Committee and served on the Trust Committee and the Community Grant Advisory Committee. She has been active in provincial and interprovincial racquetball and squash groups.

New members elected to the board are:

Ian Cook, Regina, Saskatchewan Racquetball Association
Cook has served as a national representative for Racquetball Saskatchewan with Racquetball Canada, and on the board and various committees for the Saskatchewan Racquetball Association.

Kelly DuMont, Regina, Saskatchewan Amateur Wrestling Association
DuMont is a wrestling coach and has served on Sask Sport Inc.'s Sport Committee and Aboriginal Sport Advisory Committee, and on the board and executive of the Saskatchewan Amateur Wrestling Association.

Marnie Eistetter, Regina, Synchro Saskatchewan
Eistetter has served on Sask Sport Inc.'s Awards and Recognition Committee since 2001 and was a member of the Sport Committee for three years. She has served on KidSport™ Saskatchewan, as a board member for the Regina Sports Council, and on numerous committees and executive positions with Synchro Saskatchewan.

Shirley Kowalski, Saskatoon, Coaches Association of Saskatchewan
Kowalski has served on Sask Sport Inc.'s FutureBest Committee, as a member of Softball Canada's Long-term Athlete Development Mode committee, as a softball coach (including three Canada Games), as Technical Director of Softball Saskatchewan, and as past president of the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan.

The returning board members are: Bryan Hillis, nominated to the board in 2004 by Water Polo Saskatchewan; Harvey Lavigne, nominated to the board in 2005 by the Saskatchewan Handgun Association; and Emile St. Amand, nominated to the board in 2004 by the Saskatchewan Rowing Association.

Sask Sport Inc. thanks the following members who are retiring from the board: Cheryl Willoughby, Saskatchewan Soccer Association; Sue Schmidt, Swim Saskatchewan; Brenda Bathgate, Special Olympics Saskatchewan; and Donna Lang, Softball Saskatchewan.

In addition to the election of the board of directors, the annual general meeting featured reports from the various Sask Sport Inc. divisions. The President's Citation was presented to Bob Ellard, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the 2005 Canada Summer Games; and Mo Bundon, Executive Vice President of the Games. John Lee, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, received the President's Citation for Administrative Excellence.
