The Coaches Association of Saskatchewan is pleased to announce that Stephanie Robertson from Canoe Kayak and Astrid Baecker from Soccer have been chosen to participate in the 2009 Canada Summer Games Women in Coaching Apprenticeship Project.
The main purpose of this project is to provide qualified women coaches in Canada Games sports with advanced training opportunities and coaching experiences to prepare them for future coaching opportunities. Terrol Russel, Soccer and Andre Gronowicz, Canoe Kayak are the mentor coaches who have graciously donated their time and expertise to support Astrid & Stephanie through their apprenticeship over the next 18 months.
“These talented young female coaches will be great additions to their sport’s Canada Summer Games team in Prince Edward Island. The experience they gain through this apprenticeship opportunity will strengthen their already impressive coaching resumes” says Mark Bracken, Manager of Coaching Development, Sask Sport Inc.
The project is made possible through the partnership of Sport Canada, the Coaching Association of Canada, the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan, the Canada Games Council, the Saskatchewan Games Council, the 2009 Canada Summer Games Host Society, the Saskatchewan Soccer Association and Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan.
